FAQ for Age of Wonders

Welcome to my FAQ for the game of Age of Wonders... you have questions for me I am sure, so I will offer you the best help that I can.

SHOULD I BUY AGE OF WONDERS?

If you like Strategy, mixed with a little rpg as well... there is no question, you must buy it!

How much is it at local stores and online?

I have seen at most places it is only $10.

I just bought Age of Wonders, should I play the Tutorial?

Another question that I must reply as "There is no question", the tutorial starts you off teaching you all the basics... and the advanced functions of the game at the same time. Although some players try to play After the Fall without the Tutorial, they will find that it is too confusing and perhaps not like the game not knowing how to play! The Tutorial will let you learn, and let you enjoy the game as well.

I'm confused about the main characters, who are they?

I will explain. Ininoch is the slain elven king who once ruled the Valley of Wonders, Meandor and Julia are the son and daughter of him. Elwyn is Julia's mother, and also Meandor is the leader of The Cult of Storms, as Julia is the leader of The Keepers.

I captured a life node, what the heck does it do?

This is VERY IMPORTANT for you to know if you want to rely on heavy magic casting, a node comes in magic ways such as the Life, Water, Fire, Earth, Air, and Death node. If you capture one of these nodes, and your leader is among one of those magic SPHERES you will gain twenty + mana income per turn!

I have a small town, and I cannot upgrade anymore. Help!

There are four types of towns, the small, the medium, the large, and the huge. There are four upgrades for a town, such as there are four towns. Each town depending on it's size can go up an upgrade, but only the SMALLEST cannot. If you have a HUGE town, then you can upgrade to the fullest!

I cannot make an alliance with a fellow race of my alignment! It does not work!

It is rare that you can even make an alliance at times, but the fact is it is possible if you have a VERY good relation with the other race, such as Elves with Halflings.

But they are as FRIENDLY, the highest relation! It does not work!

You want to increase the relation anyway such as giving Halflings towns under your rule, such as migrating instead of Elves, migrate Halflings. Fortify for the Halflings, and make tribute... most likely it will work that way.

In your opinion, is this game a FUN game?

For it's genre it is superior, for a game it is greatly fun.

Paulos, I want to build up my leader, but he dies alot, and the game is over! Help!

It is really best to have a HERO do the scouting and adventuring with your troops, and keep your leader safe.

But Paulos... you do it with a leader, for Ashram did it all alone. ;)

Heh heh, well I am a very experienced player, and after all... Ashram is the greatest hero!
