FAQ

Ah Paulos... Age of Empires II: The Conquerer's Expansion, are you covering Age of Empires II Age of Kings and Conquerers here?

Both rolled up in one, for I feel they are both pretty much involved in the same gameplay enough not to be specifically separate games. Example is that Diablo II Classic is a bit more different than Diablo II LoD due to the incredible improvements added by LoD, while Conqurer's though adding new spices, it doesn't add the BULK amount to be considered another game.

But Paulos, it IS another game!

Hardly, you need Age of Empires II: Age of Kings to install Conquerers.

It's an expansion like Diablo II however! So why does Age of Kings not have it's own section?

Do you see a Diablo II Classic section?

Ohhh...... so it's just better this way, more to cover and all together, smart!

Yes.

What's Age of Empires II like?

Ah... I have memories of Age of Empires II, mainly playing online on the Microsoft Gaming Zone, I never had any high scores and lost a lot of online games, especially on AOE1, but it was a LOT of fun. On single player, there is a single player mode with numerous actual strategy types of gameplay, how to emerge victorious, map options, the damned population limit, but unlike in AOE1, in AOE2 you have a choice of what you want the population limit to be! Example, in AOE1 it was 50, in AOE2 it can go from 50 to 200!!

What is AOE2 specifically like in it's gameplay actually, like what do you DO?

Most of the times, even in DEATH MATCHES, you will have a Town Center like in AOE1, you will have three villagers and a scout. The scout is for exploring and finding sheep that your villagers can kill for food. The food/gold/stone/wood system is involved in this game, and food does not automatically decrease. These resources are SPECIFICALLY used for trades, diplomacy options, making buildings and making units!

How do you WIN depending on what the victory needs to be?

I personally prefer Conquest, which consists of killing all enemy units/Town Centers and military buildings, definitely! Other victories can come from Standard terms, such as having a Wonder that is not sieged/destroyed for a thousand years!

Does AOE2 consist of any RPG, building heroes and such?

AOE2 is pure strategy basically, in combat you do not gain levels or such. It is pure strategy really, but the resource system of to keep replacing all fallen military units and such is quite enjoyable.

AOE2 is ranked 30th best game by you, AOE1 is ranked 37th, as Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries is rated 11th, and Seven Kingdoms II: The Fryhtan Wars is rated 6th. AOE2 is a great game, has more publicity than Seven Kingdoms and is definitely MORE PLAYED. Why and how?

First of all, Age of Empires is more popular only because it's more of a FIGHTING strategy game than an EMPIRE game such as Civilization and Seven Kingdoms. Now... Age of Empires though is building as well, other than the population limit of units, it is also more publicized by MICROSOFT due to them being the ones who created it! In other words, the game is popular because of that and played more due to the popularity of the Microsoft Gaming Zone. Put Seven Kingdoms on the Gaming Zone and you'll see the popularity CHANGE quite a bit, due to Seven Kingdoms NO DOUBTINGLY being better than AOE.

But AOE is still good?!

Comparing is not judging a game's goodness. AOE2 and AOE1 are GREAT games no doubt deserving recognition for it's strategy play and numerous battles you can have on it.

What to expect from this section?

Comics, Fan Fiction, Scenarios, explanation of Age of Empires II and more!

Thanks Paulos!

No problem!! :)!
