Captain America and the Avengers, I'll never forget when I first played it. I was Captain America, and I was owning all those gray robots that attacked me, though some of the more advanced types like the Grabbers and Guns were difficult, as I actually played over 1,000+ games of this in like below a period of a month, I'm a god at Captain America and the Avengers.

I don't think The Avengers got too much publicity or reputation unfortunately, but I know there has to be some who still play this game that packs fun, difficulty and variety in one game.

There's even a two player PRACTICE mode, like an example for most fighting games, you can use one character against a friend, as you both bash and battle each other!! I actually only realized the practice mode when I was nearly finished with the game itself!

Captain America and the Avengers is definitely a game worth trying if you like Marvel characters AND if you want a new change with a game.
