FAQ

Hello Paulos!

Greetings.

So, why do you, Mr. Non liker of sports, like Boxing?

I first saw boxing in August of 2000, when Evander Holyfield first fought John Ruiz for the WBA vacant title. Although it was a very close fight, and I had my idiot stepfather screaming at the tv the whole time like an arrogant moron, Evander won. Perhaps that's why I liked Evander so, since he was one of the first I ever saw. After that, I became a boxing fanatic. Watched Friday Night Fights every Friday, watched all the main fights on Saturday, became a fan of Roy Jones, Evander, Shane Mosley and also of David Tua, and a few others. Point being, Boxing is a great sport, that requires dedication, bodily functions, hard training, skill, natural born talent and perhaps a bit of power in the ring... and a hell of a lot of mentality if you want to be a boxer. So to me, perhaps I respect all boxers who have the guts and ability to battle for all those 10/12 rounders... win or loss.

What does boxing training entitle?

Some boxers, like Joe Mesi, originally took up boxing to lose weight. I, on the other hand, never have professional or amateurally boxed, but I've sparred and was told I had good potential and speed. It also depends on what weight you are, for example, Heavyweights would naturally do a lot of weight lifting, a LOT OF SPARRING to keep up their stamina, and keeping a well balanced diet. I do boxing training not for actual work, but for fitness. Taking up boxing training is one of the BEST fitness choices anyone can make, even if you aren't going to be a boxer.

What are the training methods?

I do push ups, a LOT of sit ups, jump rope, a lot of leg ups *a move I invested, bringing your body down on your legs, bending your legs* up and down, up and down. Then there's hitting a heavy bag, hitting a speed bag, then of course, you can spar if you want to learn to defend yourself as well. I have done a HELL of a lot of shadow boxing, because that is what tones your skill and stamina.

Will you ever be a boxer?

F*@$ no.

Is boxing a good career to try to follow?

For people with athletic talents, perhaps, but it isn't thrilling being beaten up in the face all the time. You can sustain injuries, and it takes a lot of heart... and even some of the most solid fighters get PEANUTS FOR MONEY. STAY IN SCHOOL, KIDS. Take up boxing to defend yourself and for fitness.

What to expect from this section?

I will be making the Boxing section bigger in the future, with live updates of fights, champion rankings, boxers and much more!

Thanks Paulos!
