The Characters in Diablo II (NPCs)
This section will explain and show the characters you will meet in the Acts of 1 through 5!
ACT 1
Kashya
is the commander of the Rogues, and basically second in charge of the Rogue
Camp. She doesn't trust outlanders, and is cold to your character in the
beginning... but as you complete quests, she favors you more than most. After
you complete Blood Raven's quest, she will give you a Rogue as a mercenary! This
also enables you to hire other Rogues from her as well.
Decard
Cain, the last of the Horadrim mages and a great sage who accompanies
you on your whole journey after you rescue him from Tristram. You will receieve
the benefit to have Cain identify your items for free when you find them. Cain
also has much knowledge and wisdom that you can learn a lot from.
Warriv
is a trader and goes through many lands with his caravan. He can give you some
good advice, but his real purpose is to travel with him to Lut Gholein *Act 2*.
Charsi
is the Blacksmith of the camp, and she is a very important person when you start
out the game. You can buy from her all the equipment you need, which for all
Diablo II characters the items are needed. If you complete the Horadric Malus
quest, and return her powerful smithing hammer to her, she will imbue one of
your items with magical powers! For example, a "regular" white font
short sword, let Charsi imbue it... it becomes a yellow font *rare* item with
attributes and modifications! Charsi repairs your items.
Gheed
acts like Charsi, as in dealing equipment... only at a higher price. Never buy
from Gheed unless he has an item you are in DIRE need of. I have once seen
Charsi selling a Cap for 60 gold, while Gheed sells it for like 100. The only
thing Gheed is useful for is the Gambling feature.
Akara,
the prime minister of the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye, the leader of the
Rogues. She gives you your first quest of cleansing the Den of Evil, and also
had vast wisdom that can aid you in your quest. She can heal your wounds, so she
is a very special character.
ACT 2
Greiz is
the mercenary captain of the Spearmen in Act 2. He will allow you to enter the
Sewers, and tell you a few other things that may help you. Also, you can hire
Spearmen mercenaries from him!
Atma
is the owner of the tavern. She will explain to you her situation about losing
her family to the evil creatue Radament. Other than that, she serves no real
other purpose.
Fara
claims to have been trained as a Paladin in Kurast many years ago. She will
trade you important equipment and heal your wounds, a very valuable person Fara
is. She also can repair your items.
Geglash
has the look of a brunt strong guard or such. Instead he is a drunk who is
always at the tavern, he really does nothing for you, however he favors
Barbarians out of any class...
Jerhyn
is the lord of Lut Gholein. He is young yet strong willed and rules his city
very well. He is the first person you meet when you enter Act 2, and tells you
to see Atma. Later he will give you other information and a quest to do.
Lysander
is a potion dealer and will help you in trading potions. He also is... slightly
reliable in knowledge and his words sometimes may help you out.
Meshif
is the captain of his boat, he sails all over the world and enjoys the feeling
of freedom and adventuring. When you defeat Duriel, and with Jerhyn's
permission, you will sail with him to Act 3, Kurast.
Drognan
will allow you to buy pots, scrolls, magical items from him. He is also a huge
dictionary of knowledge, and will help you with your quests.
Elzix is
the owner of the "Desert Rain" inn. You can buy low level items off of
him, and gamble from him.
ACT 3
Alkor
is an alchemist and can sell you potions, but you will want to rely on Ormus for
potions and items way more than Alkor.
Hratli
is a sorceress skilled in metal working. He is your main person to buy equipment
off of, he will have some good items. He also repairs your items.
Asheara
is the leader of the "Iron Wolves" mercenary band. She allows you to
hire one of her mages, and will also trade items with you.
Ormus will heal your wounds and you can buy potions and magical items off of him.
ACT 4
Tyrael
the Archangel is a very special character in the game, and plays a
very important role. You can resurrect your merecnary from him, and will give
you passageway to Harrogath when you kill Diablo.
Jamella will heal your wounds and sell your magical items. Jamella also gambles, and she does not have the option to speak to you.
The golden armored man will sell you equipment, and repair your items! He does not have the option to speak to you.
ACT 5
Malah
will heal your wounds and sell magical items. She has many things to say to all
of the character classes... just speak to her more often.
Larzuc
at first is skeptical of your character, and tells you to kill Shenk to prove
yourself. After you do this, he apologizes and offers his services are a lower
rate and to socket one of your items, which is VERY important with high level
items! You can buy equipment off him, and he repairs your items.
Anya
is one of the slain elder's daughters, and the
last actual heir to their town's leadership. She is strong willed and you can
trade with her items, and gamble as well. You must originally rescue her from
the Icy Cellar after speaking with Malah about it.
Qual-Kehk
is the senior man-at-arms, and the general of the defense of Harrogath. He will
defend it with his life, and will allow you to hire a Barbarian mercenary if you
rescue his fifteen soldiers in the Frigid Highlands.
