Battles

BATTLES... other than traveling the land, buying items/equipping characters, managing them, deciding who will be in what battle and who you want to increase in skills, the gameplay consists of constant BATTLES. The fun that fills battles is very great, numerous battles even before you do the final ending can be very delightful! Some are still even very tough, because all your characters cannot like be all huge defense/attack warriors, instead you are forced to deal with pike wielding yet low defense knights, low defense priests, and so on!

Battling is attacking your enemies to finish/win the battle, and you must destroy them! Moving through the terrain and the LAND EFFECT is important, it will judge your movement of how you can move in certain areas. For example, you cannot move too far in mountains/forests due to the land effect being like 15/30%! While grassy fields for example you can move through easily due to lower land effect. Flying characters' movement are not judged by land effect however, and some agile beings such as Slade as a Ninja can move and adjust to land effect easier, while units like Kazin and Claude take a little while to get around.

On the maps, you have an four main map options to choose. You can check out your members, the arena map which can be quite helpful in judging where enemies are and all their positions, choose message speed, and QUIT the game if you are annoyed at how it turned out and you can start over the game, not the battle though, you'll have to open your last save.

As you can see by the dark shadow throughout the land area that Slade can move in, he is not effected by land effect due to Ninjas being very, very good. Agility is for evading, not moving. MOVEMENT is moving successfully and quickly.

Me checking out my Slade's stats! God he rules, never defeated yet as a Ninja!! ;)!!!

Slade has moved up to the enemy, now it is TIME TO !!!

Here we go!

After the DEFEAT of an enemy, you can gain gold coins, but every strike you gain experience off of who you hit! It depends on your level though of how much you gain, as well as the monster itself's power and level!

Now, enemies can attack also! HERE COMES AN ENEMY TO ATTACK SLADE!!

HERE IT COMES!! GOT TO LOVE THE FUNKY TUNE WHEN ENEMIES' ATTACK, MAKES YOU REALLY TINGLY AND AWAKE! SURVIVED! Also, sometimes you counter enemy moves!!!

Ooo, Kazin isn't putting up with this crap no more, he's going to destroy the Worm that dare hit his friend Slade.

Practically destroyed, yet the Worm survived!

SLADE ATTACKS, as the WORM QUICKLY DODGED THE ATTACK! OH NO! Slade ATTACKS THE WORM DOUBLE! Sometimes characters attack TWICE!! SLADE WINS ONCE AGAIN!

That's how battles work in Shining Force II!! Good luck, and be cautious, enemies can be VERY strong.
