Stages
Here is a list of all the fifteen stages available for play in Super Mario 64! The difficulty rating is judged from 0.0 to 10.0, 10.0 being the most difficult, 0.0 being the least difficult. Also there is a FUN FACTOR level on each scenario, from 1 to 10, 10 being best, 1 being worst.
~#1 Bom-Omb Battlefield~
The easiest stage of all,
perhaps one of the most fun. The Bom-Omb stage like all stages have 7 stars in
the land, waiting for you to unravel them. From the huge Chomp Dog, the friendly
Bom-Omb buddies, the small amount of Goombas, the light obstacles... the Bom-Omb
Battlefield is not a difficult stage!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 1.7
Stage Fun Factor: 3
~#2 Whomp's Fortress~
Whomp's Fortress is very
fun, for it packs some scares because it is like a floating fortress in the sky.
If you jump off of it, you will lose the stage and be thrown back to the castle
world! Numerous fun things to do, the scenario with the most coins in a stage
also, and good fun missions, Whomp's Fortress is one of the best.
Stage Difficulty Rating: 2.0
Stage Fun Factor: 7
~#3 Jolly Roger Bay~
Oh ho... Jolly Roger Bay
may not be super fun and a little more difficult than other stages, it has a
nice tune and some good missions! It is mainly a full water world that you must
swim through to gain certain mission requirements to get the star!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 4.3
Stage Fun Factor: 2
~#4 Cool, Cool Mountain~
Cool, Cool Mountain is a reminder of Whomp's Fortress only bigger and more
dangerous! Cool, Cool Mountain is real fun as well, swirl and twirl all over the
place, slip on the ice, careful not to slam into the snow or Mario will be stuck
for a few seconds in it! Cool, Cool Mountain has a few difficult missions
however, and the map itself is sometimes a litttttttle tough to maneuver, yet
still fun!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 3.9
Stage Fun Factor: 6
~#5 Big Boo's Haunt~
OOO... scary scary scary! You must get to
the castle garden and beat the one boo to the north west of the entry to get the
mansion icon, which when you go near it, you will be able to get into the
mansion! Sometimes going through room after room gets a little tedious, but you
always have a mission to do!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 4.7
Stage Fun Factor: 3
~#6 Hazy Maze Cave~
Hazy Maze Cave!! Perhaps one of the most annoying and least fun of the stages!
You have to go all over the place and it gets really dangerous at times with all
the monsters and hurling boulders that fling all over, HOWEVER, this is where
you get the METAL CAP STAGE!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 5.5
Stage Fun Factor: 1
~#7 Lethal Lava Land~
THE FUN IS OUTSTANDING IN THIS MAP! One wrong move could be your true last, as
you will fall into lava and lose control of Mario as he will fling up into the
air with his burning butt! Be careful where you move and use your Dash Jump alot!
A rather large stage with a tough Volcano stage, Lethal Lava Land is fun!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 4.3
Stage Fun Factor: 6
~#8 Shifting Sand Land~
At last, a sandy map! This is a hidden stage in the basement to the far north
west corner next to Lethal Lava Land. Sand Land is fun and has a good difficulty
level.
Stage Difficulty Rating: 5.0
Stage Fun Factor: 4
~#9 Dire, Dire Docks~
Dire, Dire Docks is interesting. The minute you enter it, you are twirling from
the air and fall straight into water. 98% of the map is water, except for going
under water and going through the tunnel to see some empty docks, which will
have a few wooden towers and red metal crates that you can jump around to get
Red Coins. Dire, Dire Docks also has a smoothing water tune which is nice to
play with.
Stage Difficulty Rating: 4.5
Stage Fun Factor: 3
~#10 Snowman's Land~
Snowman's Land is most likely one of the most fun stages! You cannot exactly
fall off of the scenario like Whomp's Fortress, there's tons of snow, plenty of
monsters and some tough cold terrain to pass! Also some cannons are around this
scenario as well, and there's also an average difficulty of this stage.
Stage Difficulty Rating: 3.8
Stage Fun Factor: 7
~#11 Wet-Dry World~
Another water stage, ... at the moment! Wet-Dry World has numerous panels you
can switch on and off for water flow to either be more or less, which will aid
you well if you want to complete the missions!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 5.1
Stage Fun Factor: 3
~#12 Tall, Tall Mountain~
Tall, Tall Mountain has some enjoyment periods, however it can become tough and
you always have to have your senses ready! There's alot of enemies to fight who
want to just knock you all around!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 6.4
Stage Fun Factor: 4
~#13 Tiny-Huge Island~
Tiny-Huge Island has difficulty in some of it's missions. At the same time,
there are two images to jump into on it's picture on the top floor of the
castle. The tiny island one, and the huge island one. You can also change what
world you are in by jumping into the pipe in the world itself, which will change
it into the opposite of what you are in. However, most missions must be done in
the Huge Island.
Stage Difficulty Rating: 6.2
Stage Fun Factor: 3
~#14 Tick Tock Clock~
One of the most difficult and most fun stages put together, making a very fine
alchemy! Tick Tock Clock is you being inside a large grandfather clock, and
depending on what time the arms were on when you jumped in will judge how the
mechanics operate! Tick Tock Clock is loads of fun, with a strong amount of
difficulty!
Stage Difficulty Rating: 7.8
Stage Fun Factor: 8
~#15 Rainbow Ride~
The most difficult and most fun stage in the whole game packed in one. A
reminder of Tick Tock Clock, except this is way more dangerous. ONE wrong
movement could result in you falling off the whole stage like Bowser in the Dark
World and Whomp's Fortress! At the same time, if you are good at movement and do
not fall off, the missions are fun to do but this is mainly an expert's course,
harder than Tick Tock Clock for sure.
Stage Difficulty Rating: 8.0
Stage Fun Factor: 10
