Here are the characters of The Shining!

Jack Torrance *Jack Nicholson*-Description: At first, Jack seems like an ordinary guy when he arrives at the hotel looking for a job as the taker of it for 5 months. He is a recovering alcoholic, and fine prey for the ghosts that lurk the hotel. Strangely enough, needing money, he isn't put off by the fact that the former hotel manager hired a man named Delbert Grady, who killed his entire family while taking care of the hotel back in 1971. Little does he realize that he is slowly going to become insane, and cause havoc upon his family.

Wendy Torrance *Shelley Duvall*-Description: Good old Wendy, seemingly a very loyal wife and good mother, is only to be one of Jack's first victims when he becomes to go insane slowly, having to live each day in suspense and fear.

Danny Torrance *Danny Lloyd*-Description: Poor Danny has a little mental problem being a young boy, the reason is due to his father's former abuse of him when he drank alcohol. However... Danny has a very, very special talent that may just save them all from the hotel's ghosts and Jack.

Dick Hallorann *Scatman Crothers*-Description: Like Danny, he too possesses the special talent known as "The Shining", and explains a great deal to Danny about the power and some parts of the hotel. He is amazed at Danny's physic powers on discovering slowly the hotel's horrific history and warns him about not going into room 237.

Delbert Grady *Philip Stone*-Description: Here he is, the murdering fool that is he. Murdering his two little girls and his wife, then putting two barrels of a shotgun in his mouth committing suicide, he is sort of the HEAD GHOST or one of them in the hotel. At first he seems like a nobody Butler to Jack, but later explains to Jack the importance and vital ness of him stopping his son from using his talent against his will.

Doctor *Anne Jackson*-Description: Although only on the scene of the movie for one time, she explains to Mrs. Torrance that there is nothing physically wrong with Danny, then is told by Wendy about Jack's alcohol problem and just sits there, with a stunned face.
