Battling

What is BATTLING? It is battling by ships! You need to have a strong fleet to accomplish this against hordes of Galleons! You can have up to ten ships I believe.

This is a close up shot of me about to challenge the Captain's ship to a duel, and since I have a large enough crew, I will engage him in combat due to my 320 Venetian Galeass crew overwhelming his 180 in his Galleon.

Fighting a duel with the Captain of another fleet is how you end the battle, if you win, you WIN the whole battle! If you lose the duel, you just plain lose the entire battle. The dueling section explains more about dueling, but this is just a quick example.

This is my Joao Franco challening Robert the Englishman, the dueling system is all about your character's courage/swordplay/equipment. Also your strategy, sure sometimes they block your attacks, but you can block too. I still say the system is a gamble due to you not knowing what particular move the other will make. By the way, certain weapons have a certain strength, as Joao is a godly THRUSTER, him using "T" the Thrust, along with the best + Sword in the game Crusader's Sword, which is also a THRUST type weapon, makes him EXTREMELY deadly.

Joao begins to Thrust, as he does and backs off, as Robert takes a massive attack of 93. That is nearly a KILLER of a move, almost a knockout move!

Now it is Robert's turn to attack, as Joao is now on the offensive, yes there is no "Once you hit him, finish him off immediately move" the game's rules are set.

Alright now, Joao will PARRY "P",

Joao takes a hit, but as you see is not effected much! You will notice there are numbers behind each move. Do not be confused, if a number is 9 it means it will have the BEST effect in it's use, but it WILL NOT mean you will always block, or instantly knock out your opponent! Not at all, it is usually better to pick the move that has the highest number! Now Joao shall STRIKE Robert.

AND ROBERT GOES DOWN!

Basically with the Crusader Wear you will have great success in duels, but duels usually only come if you are close enough to the enemy ship and have some fire power to cut down an enemy crew if you need to. Let's get to ship battling.

Alright, now the red ships are you, the brown/green flagged ships are your enemies. All chars start out with one ship, now you wonder, how could every freaking fleet HAVE SO MANY SHIPS? That is where the personal dueling system saves many if you got a really good dueling chars. But if you prefer a tough ship shooting spree, you need at least five good ships with over three hundred crew each, all assigned crewed as 100% combat. There are two ways of shooting enemies, one is by shooting a cannon from a distance against an opponent which damages their ship and can hurt some crew. Another is to get right next to them and begin gunning each other out, you will lose crew this way and good Combat skill level and Courage helps here, I would presume also Leadership assists in this. Still, I personally prefer duels.

This is the system, when you have your turn on, you can move one of your ships one at a time to move or attack. You may gain information by clicking the INFO key, ORDER uses the automatic battle where it fights an automatic battle for you, but I don't suggest using it! You may flee in some time if the battle gets too difficult, and you may use an item which I have yet to find what the ITEM option does in an open sea battle. Still, the biggest, ATTACK means you may either shoot at an enemy ship or propose a duel to the enemy Captain. The proposing of a duel only works on the ! ship, which is called your FLAGSHIP.
